A Classic?

Ben claims every movie he owns is "a classic" film.  I think everyone has their own definition of what makes a film a classic, but for film to be a classic most people should agree that it is classic or at least understand why some people would consider it a classic.

Shortly after having this discussion, Ben made the mistake of buying Tron.  I say mistake because I was forced to watch it.  The movie started out incredibly weird and not very good, and it just kept getting worse as the movie progressed.  If you haven't heard of Tron I would argue that is a vote against it being a classic.  If you have heard of it, I hope you didn't have to watch it.

Maybe Ben can try explaining what makes this movie a classic.  I think it was something about early special effects.

So...do you think Tron is a classic film?

Our New Living Room

This is a long one, but it's really a year worth of information.

Over the past year we have been slowly accumulating a new living room.

First we got a TV courtesy of our stimulus check.  Ben finally decided it was time to stop dreaming and buy the TV he had been doing research on for months.  We purchased it on Amazon, Ben's new favorite store, instead of Best Buy.  I felt a little guilty since we used Best Buy to to physically look at the TV before we bought it, but we saved almost $200 by going through Amazon so the guilt didn't last long.

Then we got a coffee table, or a cocktail table as all the furniture stores call them in New England.  As long as we were getting a coffee table we also got a matching end table.  The tables were from Ben's parents as a house warming gift.  Yes, we lived here for a year by the time we got the tables, but that was our fault not their's.  Our tables have a pretty awesome fake top surface so we can hide our clutter not being used (remote controls, magazines).  This will make no sense if you've never seen one so you'll have to examine the pictures or come visit.

Then we finally got a new couch.  I had an excellent couch I bought from my cousin when I moved to Ohio for about $200.  I have had it for over 5 years now so I definitely got my money out of it.  Ben never liked it, even though it was an awesome napping couch, so we finally went couch shopping last weekend with part of our tax return.  Now we finally have enough seats to have more than one person over!

We ended up deciding a sofa and a love seat was the way to go.  Since we probably won't live in New England forever and the rest of the wold has bigger living rooms, we sprung for the matching chair too and put it in our office.  That meant I had to get rid of the desk I never use anymore, but now we have a sweet chair to play guitar in or read or do some other fun activity.  (school is over Dec 2010!)

So here is the new living room.  Sorry their is no picture of the chair, you'll have to imagine what it looks like.  It matches the rest of the furniture so that shouldn't be hard.  Oh yeah, every seat reclines except middle seat on the couch, and the new arrangement we decided on meant we had to put in a new cable drop on the wall along our stairs.

On a related note, we now have a couch and a 27" TV that is up for grabs from any friends or family that want them.  Disclaimer: This offer requires the person claiming the item to figure out how to get it to their home.
