Good News!!!

I hate the Jonas Brothers.  I have no specific reason, but it's the first time aside from a sports rivalry that I have cheered for someone to not be successful.  I was thrilled when one of them fell flat on their face at an awards show about a year ago.  I make fun of them every time I see them (seriously, scarves and vests boys?).  I was sincerely pissed when I read a Rolling Stone article that implied they were the next Beatles.  Pretty much everything they try to be serious about is comical to me in some way.

They were nominated for Best New Artist this year.  If you ask me they aren't a new artist.  They have been being pushed by Disney for at least 3 years and I definitely wouldn't say their THIRD album by any definition can be called their first album that established their identity.  There is nothing about their identity that has changed since Disney established it for them when they were new artists 2-4 years ago.

I could go on a long rant about how much and why I hate them, but I am just going to leave it at a simple kudos to Adele.  She won best new artist and the Jonas Brothers did not!  I was cheering for her and Duffy, bust mostly I was cheering for anyone but the Jonas Brothers.

In case you were wondering Adele signed with a record label at the end of 2007 and released her first album in 2008, a true new artist in 2008.

Let's Go to the Mall...TODAY!

Mandy Moore performed a free concert at the outdoor mall, The Greene this evening. I am not a huge Mandy Moore fan, but it isn’t too often you will see ‘free’ and ‘green’ in the same sentence. Everyone within 50 miles was there. I ended up parking across the street (six lanes wide), about a mile away.

Mandy Moore took the stage at about 6:36 PM and played for just over thirty minutes. All of the songs were acoustic cuts off her latest album, A Wild Hope. It was mostly standing room except for a set of bleachers and some lawn seats. These pictures should give you an idea of where we were.

With digital zoom, I was uncomfortably close to Miss Mandy Moore.

Ice Cream at Ritter’s Frozen Custard ended one sweet evening with Casie.

I Want My MTV!

I'm having new music withdrawal. I want my MTV (when it use to play videos)! I loaded all 40Gb of my photo iPod before I left, but I am starting to feel dated. I've always prided myself on my musical knowledge of all the current hits. <flashback: Default...Live a Lie. Casie and Beck know what I am talking about.>

With Casie as my personal Best Buy shopper, I have still been purchasing new music, but it is waiting for me at home. I have made a few music purchases over here, like Jet - Shine On, The Killers - Sam's Town, and Rocky Balboa: Best of the Rocky Series to curb some of my musical appetite.

What should my 'Operation Iraqi Freedom Soundtrack' be? Leave me a comment about three newer tunes you're loving right now. My health depends on it.
