It Made It!

I came back from breakfast yesterday to find this box on my desk.

You'll never guess what it was (except Mom and Dad 2). A fresh Christmas wreath!
It arrived in great shape too. We have seen many artifical 2-3 ft trees, but a fresh Christmas wreath made it's way from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Iraq. I think my office went into shock.

It was a group effort to hang it on the outside of our building door . It was the topic of conversation all day. My co-workers were walking up to it to touch and smell it. I think all of us did our fair share of staring too. This simple item brought more holiday cheer than many of you reading this can imagine. Mom and Dad 2, a big thank you from Iraq.

I am embarrassed to admit this, but this is my first fresh Christmas wreath. Do you water these things? I've been told to splash water on it to keep it fresh.

Yeah, I've heard you mist it with water to keep it from drying out as fast. I think you're supposed to avoid direct sunlight and heat to help it last too. It only has to last about another 2 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much.

I would have include a pine tree car freshener in your Christmas kit if I knew you missed the fresh tree smell. :)

Merry Christmas. They promised that it would last without a problem. We researched it with forestry people. Cedar was the choice. Besides it smells so good. I have never sprayed or done anything to my wreaths and they last for months. I am sure that yours will last for 3-4 weeks without a problem. At the end it will turn a rust brown but the needles/leaves will not fall off. Enjoy!!!!

Ok I have to say that I am a little dissapointed in my super hero results. As it turns out I am an ever-expanding green...thing. I was 80% hulk and 75% superman. I think when I said I didn't like to wear a cape that did me in. So...I guess the lesson from this is... don't uspet me or you have an 80% chance of me turning into a big green thing, or a 75% chance I will fly away to some farm in Kansas.

Awe! It's cute! I had no idea, they're tricky folks them Applins. No one tells me any secrets anymore, especially around holiday time. I feel so left out!

I'm in MI and I didn't get a wreath, I'd say you're giving MI a good name there in Iraq. Everyone must think we're cool kids up here. :)

oh yeah, music question! I've been meaning to ask, on the Sufjan Stevens Christmas box set, the song "Come on Let's Boogey, to the Elf Dance" do you think the begining sounds like the How I Met Your Mother song? (on your page I noticed, nice job) I'm convinced he took a sample from it, it's SO similar! That is all! :)

Becky--nobody tells you secrets because they don't stay secrets more than a day...especially around the holidays.
