Gone But Not Forgotten

I mentioned this monument in my "Everywhere" post, but have failed to blog about it. I think the pictures will speak for themselves.

On the 21st of December there was a moment of silence at 12:07 p.m., the time incident occurred. They also had a very touching ceremony in front of the monument directly afterwards. It is hard to believe that where I eat everday something like this could have ever occurred.

Ben I found the monumment very interesting. A little scary. I didn't realize you were in the same place we heard so much about a few years ago. You have made it seem so effortless that I sometimes forget the danger you are in. 12 days to go! Ruby slippers or not just try the heel think.

Hi Ben, I am in Afghanistan now but miss Mosul very much. Different perspective I know. I am a civilian Army employee and I absolutely loved being in Mosul and being able to go into Kurdistan. Looking over your posts is a good memory. About the DFAC, the incident did not happen exactly there. That DFAC was built to replace the one that was blown up less than 2 blocks North of its location. Our compound was behind the DFAC, and the blown up DFAC was two blocks further. Everything about that DFAC was designed with the blown up DFAC in mind, from the blast walls to the defibulators everywhere. Thanks for the memories.
